I can only function according to the warmth of my toes – and just the toes. If they’re cold, I don’t get anything done. If they’re too warm, I fall asleep and don’t get anything done. It’s not snowing, but as Winnie the Pooh might say, tiddley pom.
Here are some of my cold temperature must-haves:
Hot tea. It’s almost embarrassing how much tea I drink.
This coat-like robe thing I got from Nagimama’s mama. It’s like the Maestro’s. This keeps the top part of me warm while the rest of me toasts nicely under a kotatsu. That’s a table with a heater, and warming my toes under it is almost always why I’m late for work in the mornings.
UPDATE: It’s called a HANTEN. Insane kanji can be found here.
Flannel sheets. Soft and fuzzy flannel sheets. Really, everyone should have them on their beds.
Put a yutanpo (湯湯婆 – kanji: hot water, hot water, old woman – hot water bottle UPDATE: I notice that none of the stores write it like this. They all write 湯たんぽ, not the 3 kanji. I have asked, but no one can explain why.) between the sheets at the foot of the bed about half an hour before bedtime, and I tell you the best part of the day becomes the mad sprint and slide into bed. Worst part of the day? Crawling out of that same bed in the cold morning.
I am hugely fascinated by pajamas during the colder months, and oh boy oh boy these are people after my own heart: they make footed pajamas for big kids like me! Drop seat backs! Whoo-hoo! Yeah okay waidasec, drop seat backs aren’t that terrific for the average woman, I must admit, after oh say way too many pots of tea or one pot of coffee. You know.
Back to the fun images in your head. Think footed pajamas. They ship internationally! Get yours today!

[...] I laughed along with all the other excited kids…and then after about 10 minutes went right back to complaining about how cold it is. As I think I’ve mentioned before, I don’t function well when my toes are cold. [...]
