Hey, Doof!

Kids excited about food, words spelled backwards, and top chefs involved with kids excited about food.

These are my kind of people!

Okay, yes, I’ve completely missed this year’s Doof-a-palooza, which I didn’t know about until I read about it somewhere online (while looking at these artery-clogging fried food photos oh eek).

Doof (doesn’t that intro music sound familiar?? Noggin?) is aimed at 6- to 11-year olds and all the adults in their lives. The show will start airing on TV next year. True, you might wish kids didn’t have another show to watch, but I have a feeling if you watch it, you’ll get some terrific ideas. Set up a race to put their meals together? You’ll soon have all the neighborhood kids wanting to try when word on that gets around.

At least two comments:

a) I think it’s generational: I grew up believing doof was not a nice name to call someone.

Doof is, of course, food spelled backwards, and someone smart knows that kids will look twice if there’s something puzzle-y about a word.

Tell them that other words are also spelled backwards, and you won’t have to do much else: guaranteed they’ll read every word to see what else looks interesting.

b) Their glob (blog) is powered by WordPress. Yay! (That’s not my original 2nd comment. I forgot what my original 2nd comment was. Oops.)
