Grilled Banana Splits

Banana splits were a popular item on the menu that summer I worked at a frozen yogurt shop.

The frozen yogurt was supposed to be a healthy lower-calorie alternative to ice cream, but oh agree with me dear people, banana splits rather quickly and efficiently eliminated all the healthy lower calories.

Oh wait, there’s a banana in there!

We never made grilled banana splits, but now that I’ve seen the video below, I’m finished with winter for this year. Warm weather and summer barbecues can start right now, please.

1. Start by preheating the grill to low.

2. Next, peel and halve bananas.

3. Brush the bananas with olive oil on both sides. Then place them on the grill.

4. Grill each side for about 1 minute, and make sure you flip them carefully.

5. Place 2 banana halves on each plate, and top with your favorite ice cream.

6. Drizzle with chocolate sauce.

7. Add a dollop of whipped cream.

8. Garnish with almonds and a maraschino cherry on top.

The recipe is from, which cooks non-vegetarian recipes, but the nice people there have some yummy soups and salads I think you might like. Be polite, and I’m sure they’ll happily share.
