G is for Gnocchi

Was it Mother’s Day? I don’t remember. My dad was out of town on a business trip, and my sister was away at college.

I was in 11th grade, and I made a simple supper of plain gnocchi and a salad for my mom. I made gingersnap cookies for dessert.

The gnocchi was surprisingly easy to make. That had been my first attempt.

My mom threw away her copy of The Joy of Cooking (gasp! I know! I’m still spluttering with disbelief) so I’ve been looking for other gnocchi recipes.

For Sunday’s dinner, I think I’ll follow Deborah Madison’s version because it doesn’t use eggs.

Happy Mother’s Day.
