Children’s Picture Dictionaries

Do you have a children’s dictionary at home? Which one?

I can’t remember which one my sister and I had when we were growing up, but I loved it!

Support your local library, but buy a picture dictionary for your home if you don’t have one yet.

Not sure which to buy? Start here: think of a modern common word (try: email). If that word is in the dictionary, you know at least that the book is up-to-date.

And yes, buy the book: it’s easy and much more fun to discover new words when you see them all on a brightly illustrated page. Please skip the electronic dictionary for now.
