Slow cooker applesauce

As soon as you’ve finished your morning routine, gather everybody ’round your trusty 3- or 4-quart slow cooker. It’s applesauce-making time!

  1. Wash about 3 pounds (about 1.5 Kg) of apples.
  2. Remove the cores however you can.
  3. Chop the apples into chunks (please, nothing too fancy) and plunk these into the slow cooker.
  4. Add ¼ cup brown sugar (you can always add more later) and 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice.
  5. Stir it up, cover, and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  6. Get back to work.
  7. Count how many noses start sniffing the happy smells.
  8. Use a potato masher to get your ideal consistency.
  9. Allow to cool a little, then serve, sprinkled with just the right amount of cinnamon.

You can, of course, cook this on low for about twice as long. But then you’d have to get to school at 6 something in the morning to have enough cooking time. That’s too early, yes?

[Thanks!]
