We all fall down

The old rules: I placed my upside-down cup on one end of a table or tissue box, and the other player placed his or her cup opposite mine. Then we’d strategically drum on the table to knock the other player’s cup over.

The kids always won.

The new rules: Two days ago, I watched as two boys balanced their pencils upright and then drummed to knock their pencils over.

But…then they shouted the strength of the “earthquake” that had knocked the pencils over. 6.2! Only 2.0!

Often they substituted erasers and other items from their pencil cases, mixing and matching to see what fell down first.

What will they think of when they re-enact the tsunami?

Boy oh boy.
