Werner Wejp-Olsen’s comic strip, Inspector Danger’s Crime Quiz, is similar: a crime has been committed (often murder…gruesome, so this is not for little ones), and the Inspector has solved the mystery by the end of the panel. Your 9-12 year olds’ job is to solve the mystery, too.
Your job is to start collecting these short mysteries now and have them ready for 5-minute time fillers.
Then, of course, you must encourage your students to make their own, yes?
Heads up that English is Mr. Wejp-Olsen’s second language, and you may find spelling mistakes here and there. For some reason I think that just makes the comic strip all the more adorable.
