Sticky wooden blocks

The simple instructions said to tape brightly colored wooden blocks to the floor and then allow your crawling baby to pull the blocks off.

The packing tape I had didn’t stick to the carpet, but with duct tape, the blocks stuck nicely to the walls. It took the 10-month-old and the 12-month-old about 3 seconds to discover the blocks and to scoot over for a better look.

The mothers and I watched, grinning as tiny fingers figured out how to pull the blocks off the walls. I am eagerly anticipating the follow-up activity: starting to identify the colors.

The 18- to 22-month-olds know their colors a bit better, so the mothers and I directed which color blocks to pull off the walls.

Oh yes, we’ll be repeating this activity soon!
