Those Alaskan 5th graders singing the Hallelujah Chorus

Jeremy-sensei sent this video of 5th graders singing Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus”. He suggested the idea could be adapted to teach short sentences to our older students.

I see it as a helpful way to teach syllables: the accented syllable in a word or sentence, breaking down words in other languages, syllables in songs, and just learning how to spell really long words.

I also see it as a helpful way to finally learn the words to the “Hallelujah Chorus”, because boy oh boy have I been singing parts of it astoundingly wrong all these years.

[Impatiently waiting for more, aren’t we? Yes, we are!]

You’ve probably seen the silent singing monks perform the “Hallelujah Chorus”, yes? Nifty, but I like this version much better.
