On first snowfalls of the season

You’re an adult.

It’s the first snowfall of the season. Pretty, yes, but trains and buses are running late and people are walking too slowly and you’d already left the house late and you have that annoying morning meeting and there’s no time to watch the falling snow. Grumble grumble grumble.

You’re a baby.

It’s the first snowfall of the season…of your whole entire life. You’re sitting in the open doorway of your daycare center with a few other babies and your caretakers. You’re watching the falling snow. Pretty, yes? Clap clap clap.
