Let’s do the laundry! (Version 2)

Our toddlers’ winter unit on weather and clothing ends with a mock laundry day.

If we’re convincingly excited by it all, the little ones gallop home, convinced real laundry day is the next exciting chore they desperately need to take over from the adults.

We start the lesson washing toddler-sized clothing (sans water…drycleaning?!?) and hanging it up on a clothing line strung low between two chairs.

Throughout the lesson we check if the clothing has dried, which it rather conveniently has by the end of the lesson. We fold the clothing mostly neatly and put it away.

I’ve been thinking we should move this unit to some time in the warmer months. We can bring everything outside! One big bucket of clear water for washing (no soap!), another for rinsing, and then there’s the fun in wringing wringing wringing (hey, those lyrics go well to the tune of “Walking Walking”, don’tcha know).

Next, we need to make filling in tax forms sound like indescribable fun.
