Turtle and Robot: Children’s Book Reviews

Turtle and Robot suggested I get a copy of Shel Silverstein’s A Giraffe and a Half.

I liked that suggestion so much, I wandered around to see what else she’s reviewed.

Here’s my suggestion: Grab your favorite comfy chair and your curiosity and follow me over to Turtle and Robot.

Try it. I think you’ll really really like it!

Grabbing the corner muffin

The next time you bake muffins, keep one corner space empty.

Pour some water in that empty muffin tin.

Then, use that corner to easily grab the muffin tin.

But then…you’d forever be one muffin per batch short, no?

Chica and Jo Easy Way to Grab a Cupcake Pan

Pssssst….! Go check out the truckloads of upcycles and recycles over at Chica and Jo. You might want to leave a trail of breadcrumbs so that you can find your way home when you’re finished: it’s *packed* over there!

Speaking of Nutella mug cakes……

Is it National Nutella Week?

Because I’ve been seeing a pile of Nutella recipes this week, and I wondered if I’d missed the Nutella memo.

No doubt you’ve already seen the variations on the Nutella mug cake, yes? (Look at all the calories you can pack into that tiny mug!)

Rumor has it you can go from start to finish in about 5 minutes.

Experience says you can go straight to the Nutella and skip all those other ingredients and microwaving steps.

Much faster, too.

With a Knock Knock here and a Knock Knock there

The first day I met them, my teenage Brazilian students asked me for typical American jokes.

Put on the spot, I think I’m embarrassed that I could only come up with the following two Knock Knock jokes:

Knock, Knock!
Who’s there?
Cows go.
Cows go who?
No, cows go moooooo.

Knock, Knock!
Who’s there?
Owls.
Owls who?
Yes! Owls whooo!

So. Heard any good kid-friendly jokes lately? Share, please!

Indoor Forts

I’ve decided it’s not so smart to read about indoor forts because now I want to call in sick, build a fort in the living room, and read and snooze to my happy heart’s content.

I’ll go get my books ready now. You know, just in case the boss says it’s okay to not come in.

Who’s with me?

That apple pie in an apple

I suspect I’d eat the apple hours before I could get around to making apple pies in an apple.

But I dimly recall reading something about making pumpkin pie in a pumpkin. Apple pie in an apple is simply a pintier-sized version of the pumpkin pie, yes?

This recipe is going on my Stuff to Try list.

Looks yummy, yes?
