How to make that hula hoop rug

How come nobody kept any of those potholders I lovingly made as a kid???

You know, those potholders all of us made by the dozens on those square looms, used stretchy loops…looked something like this?

Let’s upgrade that Grandparent-go-to project by joining the masses who have discovered hula hoop rugs: cut up a whole bunch of old t-shirts (ohhh…!), and weave the weft among the warp until you’re done.
