Blue and Green and Krispie

DLTK Kids has a nifty selection of Earth Day activities for the class.

There is only one recipe, and, even though I rarely eat marshmallows, it’s intriguingly silly enough that I might have to try it on Wednesday. Blue and green rice krispies treats?  Whee! The kids won’t want to miss this!

The long version.

The short version:

1) Make a batch of puffed rice (rice krispies) mixed with melted marshmallows and butter.

2) Divide this batch in half, and place each half in a bowl.

3) Dye one half blue and the other half green using your favorite food coloring.

4) Tell the kids to take some blue mixture (the water) and squoosh it together with some green mixture (the land). We are not accounting for pollution and global warming effects here. Maybe next time.

5) Form the mixture into a fist-sized ball and allow to harden and cool.
